Liebster Award

Hi everyone! Last month I was nominated for two blogger awards, The Mystery Blogger Award and The Liebster Award. With work and everything else I was too busy to participate so couldn’t put this up back then and I kept pushing it forward, but not anymore.

Thank you Amy Ross for nominating me, you can check out her blog here . Give her a follow if you already haven’t. Blogger Awards are a way for us to get to know each other. It is a form of appreciation from one blogger to another and a way for us to connect.

So here’s how it works –

* The rules:

Acknowledge the blog that gave you the award – send them love!

Answer 11 Questions that the blogger gives you

Give 11 random facts about yourself

Nominate 11 blogs and notify them that you dig them

Give them 11 Questions to answer

* Amy’s questions:

1. If you had a time machine to travel to the future or the past, which one would you choose and why?

I wouldn’t go anywhere. Knowing the future is scary, and going back to the past will always disrupt the timeline (Back to the Future, Doctor Who and Timeline show us just how bad interfering with the past is)

2. What’s the best piece of advice you have been given?

“Not to care what the world thinks. Be who you are”

3. What drives you to continue with your blog?

Opening up my stats and seeing that my writing is being read all over the globe. Knowing that my voice is being heard.

4. What has been your biggest achievement so far?

I shall be very cliche and say “Graduating”. Not many get the chance or the opportunity and I am so thankful that I did.

5. What genre of music are you into?

A bit of everything? One minute I can be jamming to classic rock and the next will be a Disney soundtrack.

6. Where was the last place you travelled/visited?

Adlabs Imagica. It’s like the Indian version of Disneyland and it is AMAZING!

7. A favourite quote you go by?

Is it okay to say I do not have a favourite quote?

8. What’s your favourite and worst social media platform?

Favourite is Twitter. Worst is a tie between Pinterest and Snapchat. I just don’t understand either of them.

9. Have you ticked anything off your bucket list if you have one?

Yes, quite a few. Graduate college, get a job, start a blog…

10. Do you have any hidden talents?

Yes I do. They are so deeply hidden that even I do not know what they are yet (lol)

11. What’s one country you would love to visit?

England. The history intrigues me.

* 11 random facts about me are

  1. I have a brother.
  2. I am a twin.
  3. I am obsessed with Disney!!
  4. I first got my glasses in 2nd grade.
  5. My favourite color is purple but I don’t own any clothing in that color.
  6. I used to play the piano as a kid.

  8. I am a very quiet person, but very talkative if I get a topic to talk about.
  9. I had a black cocker spaniel as a kid.
  10. I currently own 2 fish. A betta and a Platty.

* I nominate the below blogs to take part in the Liebster Award

Steph Loves

Everything Eden

Rebecca Jayne

Reflections and Rambling

Perpetual Fangirl

The NChanting Whisphers

Sierra Leone Girl

The Mystery Blogger Award

I was recently nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award. It means so much to me and I’m glad that my work is being appreciated. Thank you Sincerely Julie Anna for nominating me for my very first award! You should really give her blog a read. She is an amazing writer who is also new to blogging.

The Mystery Blogger Award was created by Okoto Enigma. Thank you for creating this award.

For those of you who do not know, a blogger award is an award given  from one blogger to another as a form of appreciation. It encourages interaction and helps us build up friendships.  These awards are a great way of getting to know one another.

So lets get to it.

1. Add the awards logo to your blog.
2. List the rules
3. Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to them
4. Mention the award creator and link to them
5. List 3 things about yourself
6. Answer the questions your nominator asked
7. Share a link to your best post/posts
8. Nominate 10-20 people and notify them
9. List your 5 questions for them to answer in their posts

Three things about myself

  1. My interest in blogging began in the summer of 2012. That was when I created my first blog but I never really immersed myself into it until now. I relaunched my blog in 2018 after a long hiatus and am finally back to the blogging community.
  2. I am a twin. People always find it cute that I have a twin brother, which is something I don’t really understand. We are like any normal pair of siblings, we just share the same birthday.
  3. I love reading!! You know the library in Beauty and the Beast? That is the dream. I have so many books in my TBR and it keeps increasing.

Now coming to the questions,

Why did you start blogging?

I always loved writing. In school, my friends and I would all maintain diaries where we would write down short stories and share it among ourselves. In 2012 when I first started out I had just graduated high school and had a good 4 or 5 months before college would start. In order to fill up my time I began writing book reviews and posted them online.

What are your goals? This could be related to blogging, life, etc., and can be short or long-term goals.

Right now my goal is to get back to how I was earlier on in my blogging life. Create a steady flow of content so that my readers and I will not get bored. In the long run, maybe start my own Youtube channel? It is still in the idea stage. Have no idea when I would work on it though.

If you could send a message to everyone in the world at once, what would it say?

Love and respect each other! We are all human beings. We may be different races, genders and we may have different faiths and beliefs, but in the end, deep down we are all the same. All of us are on this planet together. All of us want to survive peacefully and in harmony. If we all got along just imagine how powerful mankind would be.

What’s one thing you’d like people to know about you?

That I am not what I seem like so don’t judge.

If you could live anywhere, where would you go?

Europe. Any place would be fine, I just want to get away from the heat here in the tropics.

Read my best blog posts here : International Women’s Day 2018: Why we need strong female leads in Pop Culture and Dear Twenty Somethings,

  5. The NChanting Whispers
  6. Personal Opinions of a Fangirl

  8. Life on the Loop

My questions to you are,

1) For how long have you been blogging and why did you get into it?

2) What is your fondest childhood memory?

3) Everybody has a travel bucket list. What are your top 5 places you want to visit and why?

4) If given a  chance, would you go back in time and live your life all over again?

5) Name one thing that you would like to change in the world?

So these are my questions. Don’t forget to tag me in your posts so that I can read your answers. Can’t wait to know more about you guys.

Dear Twenty Somethings,

To my dear twenty-somethings,

It’s okay. Everything will be alright. I know, I am going through it too.

We have all read the articles online “things you should be doing in your twenties” or “things you should do before you graduate”, and as helpful as the author may want to seem, they only write to their audience who can actually achieve those things. Don’t ask me how many posts I have come across online where I, an almost twenty one year old have been told to get out and travel and see the world, or follow your dreams and to do a million other things that I cannot do. And this leaves me feeling bad about myself and bad about my life. Until I realize that an online article shouldn’t dictate my life or tell me how I have to live it.

When we reach our early twenties our life changes. We graduate, we get our first proper job,  some of us even get married and start having families of our own. We have student loans to pay back, we have bills to pay, we have taxes and a whole lot of financial work to take care off. We are faced with every single “adult” responsibility that we can ever imagine. And to top it off, we are all on our own. No mum and dad to shelter us and protect us from this big bad world that we live in (unless you are one of the lucky ones who’s parents still pamper you). And at times all of this may seem a little overwhelming and scary. You think you won’t be able to survive but trust me, you will.

You may have made a plan that seemed absolutely perfect for you at the time, perhaps it was the “dream” job you wanted or maybe it involved moving to another city. And just when you think everything is going to be great, every piece falling into place something comes up and it all shatters into a million heart breaking pieces. Its okay. Maybe it all fell apart because this wasn’t the way it was supposed to happen. We cannot see the whole picture now but very soon we will see whatever happens to us happens for the best. There is no point in regrets, in feeling sorry for yourself over missed opportunities because you know what? Opportunities keep on knocking and keep on coming your way.

Times will get difficult, people will say things, you will get a ton of “advice” from well to do family members. You will look at other people, other twenty somethings who seem to have it all. There will be times when you feel that there isn’t any point in going on. Please don’t let these thoughts get to you. Don’t let the present disappointments dictate your future. Don’t make rash decisions. And remain happy. You are not alone. Trust me, everybody is going through the bad times. And the good news is, it is not going to last. A year from now you will look back and laugh and be thankful for the experiences you had because that is what shaped you.
